Cybersecurity & competitive advantage
The value of cyber security
In an era of unprecedented digitalisation, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) face complex challenges in the form of a growing cybercrime threat. These range from targeted phishing attacks to large-scale ransomware episodes, which can have a significant impact on the financial stability and reputation of SMEs.
In this report, we explore how investing in cybersecurity not only protects your organisation's digital assets and data, but can also provide a competitive advantage.
For the second year in a row, we collected responses from SMEs in Denmark. The results confirm a strong correlation between cybersecurity measures and competitive advantage. This year, it also shows that cybersecurity measures benefit all industries. The more measures, the greater the perceived benefits. In fact, many companies see cybersecurity as a necessity to be in the market at all.
In this year's survey, we take a closer look at cybersecurity in SME value chains. We are looking at whether SMEs are focusing on the cybersecurity of their suppliers and whether they are under external pressure, for example from their customers, to secure their value chain as well.
